Jesse McReynolds' “Pick Inn Party” Radio Show takes a summer vacation On January 21, 2008, there were two new voices over the airwaves. Grand Ole Opry star and Bluegrass legend, Jesse McReynolds, began co-hosting a morning radio show with his old friend & very special host, Harv Mason. Many folks will remember Harv Mason’s show out of “Gracie T’s Market” in Lebanon that was popular for many years before the market (and his studio) burned down in a fire. It was through this radio show that Jesse came to know Harv and his wonderful way with people, and for Harv's ability to make everyone feel like part of a big radio family. Harv lent a personal touch to his commercials, getting radio listeners interested in visiting these “famous” places and businesses of which he spoke. Many times these business owners would come on the radio as special guests. No matter the guest, Harv has a gift of finding each person’s unique talents and treating everyone with respect and his own wonderful brand of down-home humor. The radio show began January 21st, 2008, on WHIN 1010 AM in Gallatin, TN. It immediately followed “The Breakfast Club” which airs live from the Chick-fil-A in Gallatin. What with Jesse heading out on the road and being booked solid for weddings, the Pick Inn radio show will be taking a break! We'll keep you posted on updates as to when we'll be back on the air. Hey Folks, We had a lot of wonderful guests in the house for our 1st "Pick Inn Party" radio show! Doors opened at 7:30 am for our live radio audience. And it was a real party!!! We had so much fun. There was Glen Thompson (president of the Grand Ole Opry Fan Club) and his lovely wife, Louise, Melvin Sloan (Opry Squaredancer and founder of the "Melvin Sloan Dancers"), Lyle Cook (retired DJ and now our standby DJ!), Homer Bradley(Mayor of Cairo by unofficial popular vote), Jackie Kincaid , some local pickers, WHIN DJ Mike Marshall, grandkids Garrett & Amanda, Jesse, Harv and me (Jesse's wife, Joy). Like I said, we had so much fun!!! Harv is a great DJ. It was bedlam in the house as we were about to go on the air, but Harv was "in the zone". He has a voice that is so great. He said "all right, everybody, we're on the air in three, two, one..." and he just took off on automatic pilot. It's amazing how some people just have all the right gifts to do something, and that's Harv. He is so good with folks that call in. And all of his old radio listeners are hearing the news that he is back on the air and are now calling in. They are practically in tears, because his old show meant so much to them. We hope you are within the listening area of the radio station. But if you are not, we want you to know we are working on getting it out all over the world via the internet. Hopefully soon!
